Experience Christ at Christmas
On the 22nd of December 2024, amidst the festive season, Grace Christian Mission embarked on a journey to bring the light of Christ to a community nestled in the heart of Kogi State. This event, aptly named "Take Christ to a Community at Christmas," proved to be a remarkable testament to the power of love and compassion in spreading the message of salvation.
About this Project
Attendance: Approximately 90 individuals, excluding children, graced the event with their presence. It was heartening to see members of the community eager to participate in this celebration of faith and fellowship.
Converts: One of the most joyous aspects of the outreach was witnessing 16 souls surrendering their lives to Christ. These conversions, coupled with previous ones from past outreaches, serve as a reminder of the transformative power of the Gospel. However, it is essential to note that special follow-up will be done for some of these converts, particularly those facing spiritual challenges or struggling to break free from the grip of idolatry.
Special Events Featured: The highlight of the outreach was the distribution of essential provisions to those in need. With the generous support of donors and volunteers, we were able to provide food items such as vegetable oil, salt, packaged tomatoes, and spices, ensuring that families could enjoy a hearty Christmas meal.
In addition to this, we distributed clothing items in various sizes for both adults and children, along with shoes, school bags for the kids, and feeder containers. Our focus extended beyond material possessions as we sought to address the holistic needs of the community.
Special Attention to the Vulnerable: In line with our mission to serve the marginalized and vulnerable, special attention was given to widows, pastors, and their families during the distribution process. It is our firm belief that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves to experience the love and provision of God in tangible ways.
Feedback Remarks: The success of the outreach was further affirmed by the formal appreciation extended to the mission team and host ministers by the chief of the village. Such expressions of gratitude serve as a testament to the positive impact our efforts have had on the community and reinforce our commitment to continuing this vital work in the future.
As we reflect on the blessings and challenges encountered during this Christmas outreach, we are reminded of the words of Jesus himself, who said, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40, NIV). May we continue to be vessels of Christ’s love and compassion, shining brightly in the darkness and bringing hope to those in need.
